Vera Meyer plays the Glass Armonica (aka Harmonica) in Harvard Square, Boston, July, 2005. The instrument, an invention of Benjamin Franklin, was quickly banned after its inception. It was said to provoke insanity. The unique harmonics have also been said to import theraputic powers. It is also known as the "Glass Armonica".

ah yah I watched a show on it and saw a genuine reproduction. Pretty neat. I also saw a modernized one with a silent electric motor. the whole unit was relatively small.

its a shame that these things actually used to kill ppl. the copper rings around the edges of the bowls were once made of lead..so they would get lead poisoning...i really dont see anyone picking this up out of anything but curiosity tho
