Rep. Barr, a staunch Christian conservative, has now entered the fray and last week sent a letter to Lt. Gen. Leon LaPorte, commander at Fort Hood, insisting that he "stop this nonsense now." Barr now finds himself the target of protests by Wiccans in his own district who along with supporters plan on confronting the congressman at a town hall meeting this weekend.

He remains intransigent, though, asking LaPorte, "What's next? Will Rastafarians demand the inclusion of ritualistic marijuana cigarettes in their rations?" Barr also suggests that permitting Wiccan activity on the base would presumably affect national security and combat readiness, and refers to unspecified "detrimental effects on our society" which has traditionally "looked to our military as epitomizing the American spirit of 'for God and country.'"

Here is a letter from Barr asking Paul to be his VP today. If you read between the lines, it is clear that 1. Barr hates Ron Paul; 2. Barr expects Paul to say no to him; 3. Barr is setting himself up to look like the hero for asking and Paul the goat for saying no.
This whole letter reads "Remember when I was great and did all these great things and asked you to do things too? Remember when the things you did turned out to be stupid? Well, I am giving you a chance to redeem yourself."

I have to wonder if the Libertarian party has been overtaken by the religious right that were no longer favored within the neo-con republicans? I know we need more members but I don't think sacrificing our values is worth it. Voted for the patriot act, prosecuted men and women for the war on drugs, was against same sex marriage, voted in favor of Iraq War ... ugh wtf was the lp thinking?

Bob Bar is NOT a libertarian and has now become a divisive cancer in the our movement and in the 3rd party cause in general. His behavior the other day - skipping Ron Paul's news conference which he was scheduled to attend, and then staging his own later in the day at the same venue, bashing Ron Paul was FILTHY and SELFISH. And asking Ron Paul to be his running mate was an INSULT. Paul is the performer with the big draw NOT Barr. It's like 3 Dog Night asking the Rolling Stones to open for them

He never said pacificity and utopian worldview was his position, nor is it the position of the Libertarian party. As for why we attacked Germany after Pearl Harbor: Germany, Italy, and Japan had a formal agreement that if any country attacked one of them then that country would have to fight all three of them. Look up the Tripartite Pact.

Implying that we should only go to war if America is attacked and we are defending ourselves is his position. He has no excuse for us to go to war with Germany if the United States itself wasn't attacked directly. The TriPartite Pact is meaningless to people like him because nothing supercedes w

Ron Paul is not an isolationist in the least. He's an anti-interventionist. Theres a world of difference. Ron Paul advocates a policy of "trade with all, alliances with none." We have military personnel in 130 countries, and spend more money policing the planet then all other states on their defense combined. We create terrorists by sticking our nose in the business of other countries. Isolationism is no contact with other states. The closest thing to that now is North Korea.
