When he looks in his wallet, he pulls out a picture of himself as a kid, he was a dog back then and he's a dog now. Dogs are looked down upon as scavengers, subservient to man. He's been a dog all his life. The radio is his handicap, even though he wears a cast, the radio is symbolic of some sort of social stigma or handicap. He can't turn it off, it stops him from connecting with anyone. |
