Thank you so much, Marius. I love Heifetz's too. I started listening to the sound of violin with Heifetz's and..as u know Heifetz's shadow!!! But... in Hassid's sound, there is sth I cant describe... totally won my heart after the first time I heard Hassid's Humoresque even then I didnt know who was Hassid. Thank you again.

people, can we please stop comparing Heifetz with everyone else? if you like Hassid's recording better...fine, but that doesn't give you the right to denigrate this recording which is gorgeous in of itself.

This is too slow for Heifetz.. to be Heifetz.
His dexterity makes no sense here.
Heifetz is good with Wienawsky, Mendelssohn, Tchaikowsky, Vitali, Paganini. Not Beethoven or Bach. And Hassid is the one violonist for this piece.

The Hassid recording is haunting, but that takes nothing away from this. Heifetz could play "mary had a little lamb" and I would listen and be amazed.

i agree that both are great. heifetz is a genius. can't say that about hassid's playing. i see nothing cerebral in hassid's playing but i do see a miracle!

this is the most beautiful ethereal and haunting violin performance ever! I own an original 1910s HMV single-side 12" 78rpm copy of this and the first time I played it on my gramophone I simply couldn't believe what I had just heard.
