This is "Uomini e Donne" (in english it is "Men and Women"), an italian tv program that is on air in one italian network property of Silvio Berlusconi, Canale 5 (= "Channel 5"). In this show someone is on a throne ad has to choose a partner in a brief of month. The one that is choosen can say "yes" or "no" to who is on the throne.

From September to December Serena is on the throne and she begins a lovestory with Giovanni but she decided to not choose him cause of him bad attitude with some girls outside the program, in the real life, and she feels herself to be screwed however he is not her boyfriend yet.
From January to March Giovanni is on the throne but he can't forgot Serena and he recognized he falls in love with her. So Serena returns March 14th in the program and an emotional Giovanni choose her immediately

After this turns of the event the Production Team of the program decides to follow them sometimes in their real life.
Now it's about a month since Giovanni and Serena are loving each other outside the program, in the real life.

Salvatore is on the throne about a year ago, I can't remember well. He choose Paola and Paola say "yes".
After about a year of love Salvatore left Paola alone cause their love is over and now Paola is on the throne.
Paola was choosen by the Production Team to go on the throne cause italian fans love her.
Now there are two contenders for Paola's heart and they are Christian and Carmine.
However Christian left the program some weeks ago cause a conflict with Paola but He want to return.
