Traditional preparation of Yerba Mate
(www.MyWellnessFoods.com).
Usually, fill up the mate again and again going through the whole thermo. By that time you might have to reload your mate due to the yerba going lavado (flat tasting). Add various herbs such as: ginger, stevia, chamomile, etc. Sweeten with raw cane, honey, or agave nectar for mate dulce. I prefer
it plain, amargo (bitter). Peace

Mate sounds a lot like something that comes from the original inhabitants of that area of south America, long before Argentina or Uruguay existed as such, so cut the stupid fight. I'm Argentinian, but I don't think Argentina or Uruguay "invented" mate. El mate es una bebida de amigos, so how about honoring it?

Hola ! Soy canadiense. Fui en Argentina el pasado ano y voy una vez mas de enero 09 @ abril 09. Me gusta mucho el yerba mate (aqui, tengo Rosamonte importado del Argentina). Lo tomo con Whiskey, Conac, o Ron. And I wonder if you (argentinian... urug... braz... etc.) were drinking it with alcool... if it is usual... and whick kind ? Quizas con Fernet! Gracias ! Advice from Uruguay:Always shake the MATE to get it de- powderized.If this doesnt work..Change the brand.Try CANARIAS from Brasil or do like the Brasilian does...use a cloth filter in the straw
