james labrie's vibrato is too wide and it makes it sound like it's going in and out of tune, which is why so many people don't like it. vibrato is supposed to be less than a semitone, but his in some songs goes almost a tone and a half, as if he's forcing the vibrato. don't get me wrong, i LOVE dream theater, and once i got used to it, i like labrie, i just think his vibrato is his weak point
