I am puzzled, too. It lacks that "something",.... the fire, the pathos, and intensity that she had in abundance. Also, why would she perform with an ordinary pianist? That doesnt seem like her class.

i know!
i love her playing, even though people often say "she is over the top". But thats what I love! and this recording is seriously not! over the top... at all.
unless its recorded after she got sick and she lost her strenght.

I've heard this recording before. This is her. Not a good representation of her, but her. Still amazing. I wish I could play even this good at this piece.

i wonder when this was recorded. is it possible that it was recorded after she started to get sicker? she does lack the strength and in-your-face emotion that permeate her performance, something that disappoints me especially in regards to this piece, which is seeping with all sorts of pathos and would seem to be right down her alley.

Yes it is - she is my Great Aunt - I should know. I have the same recording, it is possible to tell that they are the same by playing them at the same time. This ONLY works for the same recording - she never played exactly the same thing twice. What made you think it was not her?

This piece is a prayer for forgiveness!! It is not an 'in-your-face' piece, and so does not require an 'in-your-face' performance. You should not be dissappointed.
