I live in Canada, we always get protesters and hippies doing their thing here. You don't get riot police in full gear coming out to intimidate the protesters, you might get a few cops to keep things under control and make sure nothing happens though.

I live in Canada too and if you don't think squads of armored soldiers don't get deployed to take out peaceful protests it's because you've never been to one. Try looking up Montebello Quebec... bfore the event the riot police marched while banging their shields in front of the protesters.. they outnumbred civilians at least 2 to 1. They are not riot police. They are normal police officers as they are trained in basic riot control. In case it got out of control, the riot police will come in full anti riot gear and come in red police bus.
