Hi there my YouTube friends. I'm singing the Russian traditional classic, Dark Eyes, for you in this video. As you may know, I am enjoying learning Russian, so I'll apologize now for any mispronounced words. It seems that no matter how much I practice, when I do the video takes I always think I could do better. I have to cut it sometime for expediency's sake as I continue to hold on to the mantra: YouTube is all about participation not about perfection. If it was about perfection we'd all be in a heap o' trouble.

ёт" (роет means digging, ie он роет могилу/he's digging a grave) is incorrect here. Correct word is "поёт". And another mistake, this one is tricky.. If you say РОССИЙСКАЯ народная песня, it not national anthem. I don't know how to explain, but I'll try t
o. In this case you should say "Русская Народная Песня" not "Российская". Россия == Russian Federation, the government, but песня - Русская. For example you cant say "Folk Song of USA", ok? I hope u understand.
поёт не роёт. It was a slip of the English. I often confuse the English P and B with their Russian typographical equivalents. Thanks for the tip on the Русская vs. Россия usage. I'm still figuring all this stuff out.
Российская/Русская", understand we have different relations with other nations, its not like those who live in Russia automatically became Russian. Its not like in America. We have people of different nations here, but all living in Russia, therefore they aren't Russians. So if the
song originating from a Russian author - this song is Русская. I hope you understand now.
ОЧИ"[o:chi] originating from a singular "ОКО" [o:ko]. Difference between "Око" and "Глаз" is that the second, is reffered to an organ, but Око can be anything with same function as the eye. It is not of italian origin, but Старославянский (Ancient Slavic Russian). like
