They were mad on Parliament and Funkadelic: The bass lines are straight out of Bootsy Collins. This was f-punk p-funk entirely, seems?

hmmm, i hear chic, a ton of reggae, early james brown and maybe even the art institute of chicago in this... but not parliament or funkadelic (on other cuts from 'y' maybe) also they were huge into "on the corner" but i don't hear any carry over from that here, 'cept in the production.

Glad you're getting so much out of the song, but LRonCupboard has said he hears f-punk in it and I've endorsed him so let it stand, there's a good chap.

The B-side is very, very good as well. Instrumental freight train industrial banger called 3:38. Well, I say industrial now but it wasn't really invented yet at the time ('79). This single blew me away, hehehe. Made punk sound like really old news.

Actually,Throbbing Gristle's debut album came out in 1977 on their,"Industrial Records," label,so the genre was around before 1979. Do your homework.

An incendiary single. Agree with others re the influences. Punk, funk, dub reggae, free jazz, strangely beautiful.

It occurs to me,that if you are going to attempt to talk about music, that you really should know something about it,instead of making idiotic claims like saying that the genre industrial didn't yet exist in '79. You should go fuck yourself..asshole.
