Composer Claude Putman, Red West heard for the first time Green Green Grass of Home in 1966, the LP, Jerry Lee Lewis, Country Songs for City Folks (67,071 Smash SRS). At the time said the graver the song for Elvis, but Elvis has decided not to do so. While traveling back to Memphis in 1970 in his personal coach Greyhound, Elvis heard a recording of Tom Jones on the radio. Parou the coach and Marty Lacker said the call for the disc jockey George Klein. Klein passed the disc several times in the air to Elvis during the following hours. On March 11, 1975, in the RCA studios in Hollywood, Elvis finally recorded Green Green Grass of Home.
