I disagree (to a degree). With the introduction of electronic keyboards and electronic equipment, it does take a lot of soul out of music. It makes it too easy to create. That being said, it still is possible to have sould and use electronic equipment

It's not just the live setup that is electronic and without soul. In the Studio, they almost never play live. Each person records their part and then the producer uses pro tools to put it together, which means the band won't be any good live. I am of course talking about current and new bands, not Bob Dylan.

I can understand what you're saying with something like autotone. But electronic instruments take just as much skill to play well as any other instrument. It's not any easier to play a keyboard than it is a piano, nor an electric guitar than an acoustic. I find it amusing that what you're saying was said about Dylan when he himself plugged in.

I think you're absolutely right, Dylan should never be compared with the idiots of modern Maintenance Rock. However, what you misconstrued as a favorable comment for Nickelback was actually a sarcastic response to lopsidedsubmarine who said "Nickelback do write their own songs, and they write much better songs than Dylan." I just assumed that comparing a musical legend with a squat in the woods would obviously come off as sarcastic. I was wrong.

True. Regardless of electric instruments (and I do understand that this is changing the subject), the introduction of recording multiple tracks and being able to loop took a huge hit against true talent. Now anyone, no skill needed, can become a musician like that! It takes a ton of fun and soul out of it.

Beats "most" bands? Try all. There aren't many bands even out there mainstream today. The ones that are out there aren't even that good and the lyrics can't compete to anyone from the times before them. It's good that they're trying though.
